So many ways and reasons to say Thanks…December 1st, 2008So Thanksgiving’s behind us now (and I do mean, behind us). Luckily, we were all careful and didn’t over-indulge; well, ok, maybe we over-indulged a bit. We’re lucky. The weather’s perfect and we’re all beautiful. No one bombed the Gainey or the Biltmore and we here in Phoenix, have it really, really good. Something else to be thankful for is my treadmill, which of course, will be my best friend over the course of the next two months. It’s just life after 30. I have so much to be grateful for and try to make the time to remember that daily. I literally say “thank you” to the sky every day. Let’s use the China!November 19th, 2008Over the course of more years than I’d like to remember and certainly enough to be grateful for; I’ve loved using my still-with-me Mothers’ things. When I was a girl I used to covet her jewelry (much to her aggravation). I watched her put her hair up (a la’ 1963) and work with her false eyelashes. She was, in a word, glamorous. Her clear sense of style was and still remains a huge influence on me. So, I use my China quite often, because it reminds me of how things used to be done and I’m big on that. Loose Lips and the Holidays!November 18th, 2008Ahhh, kids. Don’t you just love them? I really do. Until they blurt out in front of your friends during a visit that ‘the car needs $2,500.00 worth of work and how are we going to cover that?’ When we were raised such topics were never discussed in front of us. We never heard my parents swear or argue and we were always relegated to another part of the house when they had friends or guests over. Additionally, we were well reprimanded if we interrupted constantly or took over during adult conversations. |
